Atlanta, Georgia – November 27, 2025 — Downtown Atlanta’s hospitality landscape has been transformed with the opening of Hotel Phoenix at Centennial Yards, marking a significant milestone in the city’s ambitious urban revitalisation project. The 18-storey property, which opened its doors on 1 December 2025, represents the first completed hotel within the sprawling 50-acre development and signals a new chapter for the city’s downtown renaissance.
Situated on historic ground where Atlanta’s story began—at Mile 0, the former terminus of the Western & Atlantic Railway—Hotel Phoenix honours the city’s phoenix symbolism, representing its rebirth following the Civil War. The hotel’s design philosophy draws directly from this heritage, with architects and designers crafting spaces that blend the site’s industrial railway history with contemporary luxury.
The property features 292 guest rooms alongside 15 suites and a penthouse, each appointed with bespoke furnishings in rich verdant tones and warm earth accents. Floor-to-ceiling windows spanning ten feet provide sweeping vistas of either Mercedes-Benz Stadium or Centennial Yards itself, allowing guests to experience the district’s vibrant energy from their private quarters. The hotel operates as part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X collection, positioning it within an exclusive network of world-class properties.
The architectural vision reflects meticulous attention to the site’s historical context. An autumnal colour palette echoes Atlanta’s distinctive tree canopy, whilst modern industrial elements create visual interest throughout public spaces. A custom installation by Dutch artist Peter Gentenaar anchors the grand lobby, featuring handmade pulp paper reinforced with bamboo framework that conveys movement and lightness. Art Nouveau-inspired tile patterns, marble countertops, and glass pendant lighting balance the contemporary design with warmth and sophistication.
The hotel’s curatorial approach extends to its art collection, assembled by Matthew Whitaker to create emotional connections to Atlanta’s history and culture. Works by more than 20 Atlanta-based and national artists feature throughout the property, including a striking nine-panel bent-neon installation by local artist Vyvyan Hughes that reinterprets Southern quilting patterns, celebrating regional connectedness and generational ties.
Dining experiences at Hotel Phoenix centre on Zephyr, the signature restaurant concept that blends French influence with soulful Southern cooking. The establishment offers daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, with leisurely weekend brunch menus available on Saturdays and Sundays. An adjacent private dining parlour accommodates intimate gatherings of 10 to 12 guests, complete with audiovisual capabilities and a fireplace.
The hotel’s amenities reflect contemporary traveller expectations whilst celebrating Atlanta’s international connections. Themed mini-bar offerings highlight the city’s Sister Cities partnerships, featuring artisan chocolate from Brussels, Belgium, snacks from Olympia, Greece, and selections from Nuremberg, Germany, alongside locally sourced products and nostalgic favourites. Luxurious Bellino spa-style robes and linens paired with Byredo bath amenities create an indulgent retreat experience, whilst a state-of-the-art fitness centre spanning 1,828 square feet caters to guests inspired by the surrounding athletic venues.
Event capabilities position Hotel Phoenix as a premier destination for corporate gatherings, weddings, and galas. The property offers more than 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including an 8,214-square-foot ballroom. State-of-the-art audiovisual systems and flexible layouts accommodate diverse requirements, whilst expert on-site coordination ensures every gathering reflects Atlanta’s distinctive energy.
Notably, the resort-style terrace lounge Bless Your Heart, outdoor pool, and event lawn The Green will debut at the start of the 2026 spring season, expanding the property’s recreational offerings as warmer weather approaches.
Gary Schweikert, Managing Director of CIM Group’s Hospitality Division, emphasised the property’s connection to its setting: “Hotel Phoenix was designed to make every guest feel the spirit of Atlanta the moment they arrive. From its warm, modern interiors to its vibrant dining and gathering spaces, the hotel celebrates the city’s creative energy and genuine sense of welcome.”
Brian McGowan, President of Centennial Yards Company, characterised the opening as transformative: “The opening of Hotel Phoenix is a pivotal moment for Centennial Yards and for Downtown Atlanta. It reflects our commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive district that brings people together; the hotel epitomises the economic rising of Downtown Atlanta.”
The property’s location within walking distance of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Centennial Olympic Park positions it as a natural hub for visitors attending sporting events, cultural activities, and conferences. As Centennial Yards continues its development trajectory, Hotel Phoenix establishes a hospitality standard that celebrates Atlanta’s heritage whilst embracing contemporary luxury and design innovation.
