Atlanta, Georgia, November 1, 2025 — Atlanta has unveiled its first autonomous electric shuttle service, connecting Midtown’s Tech Square with the bustling Downtown business district. The initiative, launched on 1 November 2025, marks a significant milestone in the city’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and technological innovation.
The service features a fleet of state-of-the-art electric shuttles equipped with advanced self-driving technology, operating within a seven-square-mile corridor. The shuttles run daily during peak hours, providing reliable and environmentally friendly transport for commuters, students, and visitors.
City officials highlighted the project’s collaborative nature, with local universities and technology firms contributing to the development and safety protocols. “This service demonstrates Atlanta’s leadership in smart transportation and community-driven progress,” said Deputy Mayor Angela Brooks at the launch event.
Passengers benefit from seamless app-based booking and real-time updates, while onboard safety operators ensure a smooth transition to fully autonomous travel. Expansion plans include evening and weekend service, further enhancing connectivity across Atlanta’s innovation hubs.
